MYLA :: Indianapolis Newborn Photographer

Had the chance to assist my good friend Rachel this morning for a wonderful newborn shoot! I just love newborns especially when they are as squishy and beautiful as miss Myla was today! She was absolutely adorable and did so great throughout the session! Thanks Rach for asking me to assist...I always learn so much from you! :) Here are a few quick shots of Myla! :)

KEN+KELLY :: ENGAGED PART 2 Indianapolis engagement photographer - Trader's Point Creamery

Ken and Kelly are friends of mine & i was so excited when Kelly called me about shooting their e-session. We scheduled their session about a week ago & it rained during our session so i took a few quick shots & we reschduled hoping for some better weather! Well...we made it through the week and once Friday rolled around it was GORGEOUS! The weather was wonderful and the  light was PERFECT! We went down by the creek at Traders Point Creamery, where Ken and Kelly went on their first date...almost a year ago! This is where their story first began and it just seemed fitting to continue it there as well...they plan on getting married at the creek in September! I can't wait to see what the future holds for this beautiful couple! Love you guys! :)

KEN+KELLY :: ENGAGED Indianapolis engagement photographer - Trader's Point Creamery

As I mentioned in my previous blog post, Kelly has been a good friend of mine over the last couple of years and I got to meet her boyfriend Ken last year...we would all hang out around the fire pit and watch Colts football...Ken is perfect for her! They are completely opposite from each other in so many ways that they compliment each other and totally balance each other out! They are a gorgeous couple...beautiful inside and out and they are hilarious and you can definitely tell they are in love and totally PERFECT for each other! It rained on us Saturday but we took a few shots anyways and got to play in the rain...we had to reschedule the rest for another time but here are a few pics from Saturday!

NEW BLOG HEADER - ENGAGEMENT SHOOT COMING SOON :)

So, I spent the past few days creating my new blog header and I am loving it and I hope you guys do too! I have been wanting to update it for a while now and just never sat down to do it! It was actually pretty simple to upload after I got it finished! It was narrowing down all the pictures that gave me problems...I had so many great ones to chose from with past clients and shoot outs with friend and workshops with Rachel that I had a hard time picking my favorites!! Anyways...glad it's finished and I will probably update the images every 3-4 months or so as I continue to have more and more photo sessions! :)

I am super excited about this evening...a good friend of mine is getting married 9-10-11 (cute right and easy to remember!) and her and her fiance asked if I would shoot their engagement photos! I was so happy and honored that she would ask me to do them I of course said yes! How many of you that live in Indy have heard about Traders Point Creamery?! It's an amazing place to eat and get all organic foods and they have an awesome farmers market on the weekends and Kelly's soon to be hubby Ken works at the farm! We are shooting the session there tonight and it's such a beautiful place...I can't wait to see the end result...fantastic venue, gorgeous couple...doesn't get much better than that! Say hello to miss Arden! She was my second solo newborn photo shoot and it was fantastic! She slept most of the session and I believe its because her parents followed my instructions perfectly...HOT HOUSE and feed her when I get there! It was so toasty when I showed up and then adding my space heater to the mix made it perfect conditions for a little squishy naked baby! :) It was great meeting you Stacy and Brandon...you have a beautiful family and thank you for choosing me to be apart of these special times! Enjoy your sneak peak! 

Learning & Growth. Read & Apply. - May Goals

So, April has come and gone and looking back at my goals that I laid out April 1...it seems that I didn't get much accomplished this month...at least what I set out originally wanting to do! Imagine that...It's crazy how  you set out these short term goals thinking that you can accomplish them in a months time...sometime I get them finished in a day...sometimes a week...other times...not until 3 months later...I just keep crossing the ones off that I do accomplish and keep chipping away at the others until they are complete. 

My website is coming a long slowly...in my brain anyways...I have a few things written down here and there but I keep finding excuses to not even open my showit worksite because - I don't have a brand, I don't have a clear vision, I don't have a CLUE what the heck I am doing!, I am not Tech savvy, I am not, I am not, I am not, I don't have, I don't have, I don't have!! It's like a broken record...and writing this now is making me realize that I just have to sit down and FIGURE IT OUT! Shying away from it will never allow me to grow, never allow me to learn, never allow me to accomplish my goal of LAUNCHING MY SITE and getting Brandy Dawson Photography out there. 

Among the other things on my list of April goals were weight loss, reading, etc. My weight stayed the same but I am in competition with a friend to see who can lose 5 lbs first this month...Winner gets taken out to dinner! :) As far as reading goes...Does Facebook count?! Probably not right...I mean, there are some great groups that I am apart of like Showiteers and Pursuit 31 with great questions and tons of information but I didn't really crack open a book! I read a few very informative blogs about pricing and a few emails about branding but since I am trying to focus on both weight loss and photography I thought I may be kind of cool to create a project including both! I am reading THE 4 DAY DIET and I plan on blogging my progress for the next month...I will keep you guys posted with my progress, weekly weigh ins and possibly before and after photo's at the end of the month! I am hoping that by putting this out there that I hold my self accountable and stick to the plans and see where it takes me!! :)

April's goals...

1. launch my brand new SHOWIT website and blog

2. lose another 3 lbs & be more aware of my eating habits and food choices

3. focus on booking sessions for the next month

4. blog at least 2 times a week - blog more in detail about my mission trip to Africa, "fashion friday", get my session images posted within 24 hours consistently 

5. design & order a coffee table book of the Africa trip, for my personal enjoyment

6. create the video from Africa for Circle of Hope International

7. research and purchase the perfect lighting equipment...

8. i am not a big reader but i would like to read at least 1 book this month dealing with business like "the purple cow" or the "22 immutable laws of marketing" etc

Anyways...I guess this brings me to MAY GOALS!

MAY 2011 GOALS

1. finish reading The 4 Day Diet...stick to the plan...WIN the 5 lbs weight loss challenge!

2. learn how to use my perfect lighting equipment!! "TTL flash system" - do at least 1 shoot a week with flash...just getting out their and trying new things...I am a hands on learner so I have to make my self get outside and get after it!

3. get at least 1 tab of my website finished - working on the about me page and pricing

4. Formerly #8. on my April goals - i am not a big reader but i would like to read at least 1 book this month dealing with business like "the purple cow" or the "22 immutable laws of marketing" etc.

5. 4. blog at least 2 times a week - KEEP BLOGGING AT LEAST 2 TIMES/WEEK 1 of those concerning my weight loss journey! :)

So, I guess looking at May...my overall goals for the month includes LEARNING and GROWTH! I like to learn things that I find very interesting but I am much better at it if someone is showing me...we will see how this "READ and APPLY" thing works out! LOL! I have never been very good at that...ask my parents! I am excited to see what this month has in store...and I hope to be able to tell you all that I had an amazing May and I accomplished all my goals for the month! :) I hope you guys will follow me on this journey and look forward to your encouraging words, your questions, your insights, your prayers!
